The Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen, has launched a consultation process on five potential routes for a new Luas line connecting the Sandyford and Tallaght Luas lines.
Funding for the project is to be provided under the Transport 21 plan, and the new connecting line is expected to attract 5.5 million passengers a year.
As part of the consultation process, a newsletter outlining the route options will be given to Luas passengers as well as businesses and residents along the proposed routes.
Full details of the plan are also available online at www.rpa.ie. Members of the public and all interested parties are invited to submit their views to the Railway Procurement Agency.
All of the proposed routes run from St Stephen’s Green to O'Connell Street.
Among the options are a route running along Dawson Street and Nassau Street, a route serving Merrion Square and Pearse Street, and a route running along South King Street and South Great George's Street to Dame Street.
