Bosnian leaders have pledged to implement constitutional reforms aimed at ending remaining ethnic divisions in the country and setting the stage for Bosnia's eventual entry to the EU and NATO.

The development followed meetings in Washington between US officials and members of Bosnia's tri-partite presidency to mark the 10th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords that ended three years of war in the country.

The Bosnian-Serb leadership also issued a public statement backing calls for the surrender, or arrest, of the former political leader, Radovan Karadzic, and former army Commander Ratko Mladic to face charges of crimes against humanity.

The US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, said dealing with the issue was a vital part of the way forward.
