Plans by the Morris Tribunal to begin hearings on a new module were halted by the Supreme Court this morning just minutes after the High Court had cleared the way for the hearings to begin.

The Burnfoot module had been suspended when Detective Sergeant John White was granted a temporary High Court order stopping the hearings.

He is facing a criminal prosecution on a charge of planting a firearm at a Travellers camp in Burnfoot and claimed that the Tribunal hearing would interfere with his right to a fair trial.

The High Court this morning rejected his application for an injunction to halting the module, but the Supreme Court has now said it will hear an appeal.
