The Department of Agriculture has announced that it is to ban the import of certain beef products from Brazil.
The announcement comes after an outbreak of foot and mouth was confirmed in the world's largest beef exporter.
European Union veterinary experts requested that EU members states apply restrictions to imports from three specific regions in Brazil and to de-boned beef from animals slaughtered after 30 September.
