The death toll issued by Pakistan following Saturday’s earthquake in Kashmir has risen sharply. More than 23,000 have been confirmed dead.
More than 1,300 more have died in India.
The government of Pakistan has said it is doing all it can to supply aid relief to those areas devastated by the earthquake.
Aid flights to remote areas resumed this afternoon after they had been halted due to torrential rain.
However, there are signs that survivors are becoming increasingly frustrated with the apparently slow response to the disaster.
Looting has been reported in a number of areas with people taking food, tents and medicines.
However, relief agencies say the aid operation is gathering pace.
In remote areas of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, the region worst affected by the earthquake, hundreds of thousands of people have been left homeless and have spent a third night in the open, many sleeping in cars or tents.
The fate of about 10,000 people living in remote villages on the border with Pakistan is unknown.
