Four injured in Kandahar blast

Four British people have been injured after a suicide bomber rammed a car into their vehicle in Afghanistan's restive southern province of Kandahar.

The incident, the second suicide car attack in less than a week in Kandahar, happened in heavy traffic on a main road about 1 km from a US military base, not far from the city centre.

Kandahar governor Assadullah Khalid said the four were on an official visit to the province to help the local government with customs regulations.

Earlier, residents said two passers by were also hurt in the incident.

Kandahar is a base for foreign troops pursuing Taliban and allied Islamic militants. Foreign aid workers are also stationed in the city, once the main bastion of the Taliban.
