Five Co Mayo men who spent more than three months in jail for obstructing work on the Corrib gas pipeline were welcomed back to Mayo in the early hours of this morning.
The men were freed after lawyers for Shell Ireland asked the court to lift the temporary injunction.
The men are due to return to Dublin this evening to attend a benefit concert at the Ambassador theatre.
Yesterday, over 2,000 people attended a rally in central Dublin in support of the five men.
At the rally, organised by the Shell To Sea protest group, the men thanked their supporters and insisted their campaign was not over.
Next month, the President of the High Court will decide whether the men are still to be punished for an illegal protest at the Corrib gas development site.
The court will also hear evidence that Shell itself was in breach of court orders by continuing on-site development work.
