Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - Denies interview

The President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has denied reports he threatened to withhold oil sales if Tehran was referred to the UN Security Council over its nuclear activities.

The UN nuclear watchdog agency passed a resolution last week paving the way for Iran to be reported to the council.

President Ahmadinejad has said he did not give an interview to a Dubai newspaper which reported him as issuing the warning on oil sales.

Iran said on Thursday that it would start uranium enrichment and stop allowing UN snap inspections of its atomic facilities if it was referred to the UNSC in November.

Iran has previously threatened to use trade to punish countries on the International Atomic Energy Agency's 35-member board that voted to report it to the UNSC.
