The Railway Procurement Agency has said its proposed extension of the LUAS Green Line to Cherrywood is being held up by a major construction company which has yet to sign up to the project.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio’s Morning Ireland, the RPA chief, Frank Allen, said he wanted to send in the plans for approval to the Department of Transport.

However, Mr Allen said the support of one construction firm was 'taking much longer than we would have liked'.

It appears until that support is secured, the project will remain stalled.

Today marks the first anniversary of the introduction of the LUAS Red Line, which runs from Connolly Station to Tallaght.
