A military court in Texas has sentenced the US Army private, Lynndie England, to three years in jail for her role in abusing Iraqi prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad. 

She was also given a dishonourable discharge. 

The 22-year-old soldier was convicted of six charges on Monday.

She came to international attention when photographs of her holding a naked prisoner by a leash were broadcast across the world.
