A prominent Lebanese Christian journalist with the television station LBC has been seriously wounded after a bomb ripped apart her car on the northern outskirts of Beirut.

May Chidiac is a presenter of news and political programmes for the Lebanese station.

The bomb was placed under her car seat with the explosion occurring as she was driving out of a parking lot

Ms Chidiac, a supporter of the anti-Syrian Lebanese Forces party, was the second journalist to be targeted by such a bomb attack.

On 2 June, Samir Kassir was killed in a similar explosion in Beirut.

The explosion follows a string of bombings in the Lebanese capital in the wake of the murder of ex-premier Rafiq Hariri.
