200 jobs to go in Hewlett-Packard

More than 200 jobs are to be lost in Hewlett-Packard in Ireland over the next two years as the company moves to cut its global workforce.

It was announced today that almost 6,000 jobs in Europe, the Middle East and Africa are to be cut.

However, a spokesperson for the company said the real impact on its Irish operations would be minimal as a result of redeployment and hiring into new business areas

Hewlett Packard is the largest IT and Services company in the Irish market.
