An Bord Pleanála has cleared the way for the redevelopment of the Irish Rugby Football Union grounds at Donnybrook in south Dublin.
The plan includes a new main stand, clubhouse, retail units, apartments, crèche, tennis courts and walkway along the Dodder.
The board rejected objections from local residents associations and other individuals who appealed a decision by Dublin City Council to grant planning permission in October of last year.
Today the board announced the plan could go ahead, subject to 29 conditions.
The decision will lead to the demolition of the existing Bective Rangers Football and Bective Lawn Tennis Clubhouse/Pavilion and existing main viewing stand.
Among the conditions are the stipulations that permission is for seven years and no more than three of the residential blocks shall be constructed before the new main stand has been completed.
