Two women, described as English tourists, have been injured after being struck by a bus in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

Both women, aged 60 and 56, were taken to St James’ Hospital in Dublin.

The accident, which involved the 145 bus travelling from the city centre to Bray, Co Wicklow, happened outside Clery's department store on O'Connell Street at 4.15pm.

The crash led to diversions and serious traffic disruption. The southbound lane of O'Connell Street has now re-opened.

There were a number of people on the bus at the time of the collision and gardaí are anxious to speak with them.
