More than 56,000 school pupils got the results of their Junior Certificate examinations today.
The results were available at schools and were online from 4pm.
The Minister for Education has congratulated candidates, especially the more than 1,300 who sat the exam as mature students.
Mary Hanafin said the exam provided an important record of students' progress while equipping them with valuable skills for their future.
She said that she was happy to see that the results and trends are broadly on a par with previous years.
The minister also urged pupils to celebrate their results sensibly.
