Gardaí in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin, and the Murray family have issued appeals for help from the public in the investigation into the murder of Raonaid Murray.
Ms Murray was the victim of a savage and apparently motiveless murder six years ago this week. Her case remains unsolved, and gardaí are still trying to identify her killer.
In a statement, Raonaid’s family said that their pain and loss continues six years after her death, and appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.
Raonaid left Scott's Public House in Dún Laoghaire at 11.20pm on Friday 3 September 1999. Her body was found at Silchester Crescent in Glenageary at 12.40am, just 500 yards from her home.
Gardaí believe Raonaid was attacked between midnight and 12.10am, which would mean there is a period of 20 to 30 minutes in her movements that cannot be accounted for.
They also say that Raonaid lost a lot of blood and it is likely that her blood would have been on the clothing of her killer.
Gardaí are urging for anyone with any information, however slight, to contact the incident room at Dún Laoghaire on 01-6665032 or alternatively on the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
