Two British soldiers killed in Iraq bombing

Two British soldiers have been killed by a roadside bomb in southern Iraq.

The incident took place in Basra province in the late morning, a ministry spokeswoman said.

The attack came just hours after two Iraqi policemen died and five were wounded following an assault on the country’s interior ministry.

Up to 30 gunmen in 10 cars used rocket-propelled grenades, mortars and automatic rifles in the attack just after dawn this morning.

In mid-July, three British soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in the Al-Amarah area of southeastern Iraq.
