A Dublin man has been remanded in custody in Spain accused of killing his partner during a violent attack in their villa on the Costa Blanca at the weekend.
28-year-old Paul Hickey who is originally from Darndale was arrested following the death of Celine Conroy last Sunday.
Ms Conroy, the mother of his three children, was found murdered in their apartment which they had been staying during a two-month holiday.
Their three children, who were staying in the apartment, were being cared for by relatives.
Mr Hickey was brought before a judge in the town Orihuela this afternoon and was refused bail while the police complete their investigation.
It could be October 2006 before the case comes to trial and he is unlikely to get bail before then.
Mr Hickey and his father, a convicted drug dealer, are known to gardaí.
