The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that an Irish man died following a fall at the Yosemite National Park in the US state of California yesterday morning.
It is believed the man was hiking with three friends in the Yosemite Falls area of the park when he lost his footing and fell down a steep slope.
Yosemite is one of the most famous national parks in the United States.
Around 10 people die in the park every year, mostly climbers and hikers who suffer falls or get lost.
Consular assistance has been offered to the family of the man.
