More than 60,000 students have been finding out if they have been offered a place on third-level courses of their choice.
First round offers from the Central Applications Office (CAO) show a continued rise in the points needed for Medicine. This brings disappointment for hundreds of young people who hope to become doctors.
At Trinity College points for Medicine have reached 590, which is the equivalent of 5 A1s and one A2, just 10 points off the perfect Leaving Cert.
However, the requirement for other high points courses such as Dentistry and Pharmacy have in some cases dropped slightly or remained the same.
Nursing is up in most of the colleges, while the points for Arts and many other courses are down.
CAO applicants can view and accept offers online. Offers will be received in the post tomorrow.
Full details of the first round points are available at www.rte.ie/cao or Aertel page 750.
