A suicide bomber has attacked a group of Iraqi army recruits in northern Iraq, killing 25 people and injuring 35.
The attack occurred outside a municipal building in Rabia, a town 80km northwest of Mosul, close to the Syrian border.
The al-Qaeda group in Iraq claimed the attack in an internet statement.
Police and army recruits are frequently targeted by insurgents. In recent months, attacks by suicide bombers strapped with explosives have become more common.
