Bord na Móna have reported pre-tax profits of €17.8m for the year to the end of March, up marginally on the previous year. Turnover was up 2% to €257.8m.
The company described the results as solid, saying profits had held up despite a loss of sales during the phasing in of new ESB power stations at Shannonbridge and Lanesboro.
Managing director John Hourican said the group had reduced its dependence on its traditional peat businesses, which now accounted for just under half of total sales.
