A fresh wave of bomb attacks in the Iraqi capital Baghdad has killed at least eight people.

A bomb in the west of the city killed a policeman and wounded three civilians.

Four more policemen died in another two bomb attacks in the capital.

Meanwhile, the number of people known to have died in a suicide bomb attack in a town south of Baghdad last night has risen to 98.

A suicide bomber in a fuel truck blew himself up near a crowded vegetable market and a Shi'ite mosque in al-Musayyib, near the city of Kerbala.

It was the deadliest single suicide attack since the new Shi'ite-led government took power in late April.
