The body of a US Navy Seal commando who was the last of a group of four that went missing in Afghanistan last month has been found.
The US military says that it appears he was killed in action.
The body was located during a search and rescue operation yesterday in the eastern province of Kunar.
A statement said that the indications were that he had been killed in a clash with militants there on or about 28 June, the day the team went missing.
It said two of the missing commandos were found dead on 4 July, having been killed in action, while another was found alive the previous day.
The Taliban had said the missing commando was captured by the guerrillas in the eastern province of Kunar on 29 June and beheaded on Saturday.
A US helicopter sent to aid the Navy Seals was shot down on the same day they went missing, killing all 16 troops aboard, including eight other Seals, the heaviest US losses in a single combat operation in Afghanistan.
Two journalists freed
Meanwhile, Afghanistan has freed two radio journalists who were detained more than a week ago while covering a US-led military operation.
The two reporters, working for the US government-funded Radio Free Europe, were released from custody yesterday.
A spokesman said: 'Intelligence officials did not tell us why they'd arrested our journalists.'
The freed journalists were arrested while covering an American operation against Taliban rebels in Kunar province.
An Associated Press television news cameraman and his driver were also seized but they were released on Wednesday.
