The Leas Cross Nursing Home in north Dublin is to close next month.
The announcement was made by the home's managing director, John J Aherne, this morning. He said it was not possible to continue in operation because of the actions of the Health Service Executive.
Mr Aherne said he had informed residents, families, staff and the HSE of the decision to close the home on 1 August.
The nursing home was at the centre of allegations of maltreatment aired in an RTÉ Prime Time Investigates programme in May.
Following the broadcast, the HSE removed 20 public patients from the home because of fears over the standard of care. It also advised private patients and their relatives to seek alternative arrangements.
Mr Aherne accused the HSE of making no effort to assist Leas Cross in remedying any alleged deficiencies, and gave the nursing home no opportunity to practically address any issues raised.
