Orange Order march gets go-ahead

Orange Order - Parade can go ahead

The Parades Commission in Northern Ireland has ruled that a controversial Orange Order march in Belfast next week can go ahead as planned.

A fortnight ago violence broke out at a parade as it passed close to the republican Ardoyne area in north Belfast.

Nationalist residents had objected to the march and also wanted next week's 12 July parade re-routed away from the area.

However, the Parades Commission has allowed the march in the morning and afternoon, but has imposed restrictions relating to the behaviour of the marchers and their supporters.
