The Minister for Foreign Affairs has told the Dáil the Government will decide by September when it will reach its overseas aid target of 0.7% of GNP.
Dermot Ahern said the Government would be making a clear indication in relation to a timeframe by then.
Mr Ahern also said, irrespective of who is in Government, it was incumbent on all parties to adhere to whatever decisions are made at the next summit in September.
