The Midland Heath Services Executive has said the closure of Tullybeg Retirement Village is not taking place at their behest and has nothing to do with patient care and safety.
RTÉ News has learned that 38 patients who are residents of the Tullybeg home at Rahan, Co Offaly are being transferred today to other private nursing homes in the county.
The HSE in the midlands region says the proprietors of the home notified them last Monday that they had ceased to have any involvement or responsibility for the nursing home.
The HSE says that the patients are being transferred to alternative accommodation and every effort is being made to minimize inconvenience to the patients and their families.
