A US military Chinook helicopter has crashed in Afghanistan with between 15 and 20 American troops on board.
There was no immediate word on the fate of those on board.
An Afghan official said a rocket had been fired at the helicopter in eastern Kunar province, which borders Pakistan.
A spokesman for the ousted Taliban regime claimed responsibility for the crash.
