Opposition parties have described the €62m National Aquatic Centre in Dublin as a costly shambles after its operators confirmed that the facility is leaking significant amounts of water.
Today's Irish Independent reports that the centre has been damaged by cracks.
Dublin Waterworld, which runs the NAC, said the extent of the leakage came to light when the centre was closed at the beginning of this year due to storm damage.
A company source said despite the fact that the centre was closed, it received a bill for more than €22,000 for water from Fingal County Council.
The source said the builders, Rohcon, had repaired a number of cracks in the centre's plant room
Labour's Spokesperson on Finance, Joan Burton, said the questions surrounding the quality of construction at the Aquatic Centre will not go away.
She has called on the Government to publish technical reports it has received on the centre and to answer Opposition questions on the issue in the Dáil.
