A former Lebanese communist leader has been killed in a car bomb explosion in Beirut.
George Hawi died instantly when his car exploded close to his home near the city centre.
It is the second killing of an anti-Syrian figure in Beirut this month.
His death follows Lebanon's first parliamentary elections without the presence of Syrian troops in the country.
