The Tánaiste and Minister for Health, Mary Harney, has said the results of the first national hospital hygiene audit will be made public to ensure the issue of hygiene is taken more seriously by hospitals.

The audit will be undertaken in July and August.

The Tánaiste said she is not happy with the standard of hygiene in hospitals.

She also said she was determined to lead an all-out effort in relation to the so-called superbug, MRSA.
