The death toll following today's suicide bomb attack in Iraq, has risen to 23.

Seven policemen and many plain-clothes security guards are among those who died in the blast at a restaurant in Baghdad.

More than 30 people are reported to have been injured. The attack took place in the highly fortified Green Zone area, where the Iraqi Government offices and embassies are located.

Iraq's al Qaeda organisation, led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, has claimed responsibility for the attack, which has been the worst in the city since the start of a month-long crackdown on insurgents.
