The Dublin AIDS Alliance led a march through Dublin this afternoon to outside the Dáil. It called on the Government to develop a National Sexual Health Strategy and to make condoms more freely available where young people gather.
The alliance says that 73% of sexually transmitted infections reported are among people aged under 30.
Executive Director Ann Nolan said that sexually transmitted diseases are on the increase which may signal a future increase in HIV.
She warned against complacency following yesterday's figures which showed a decrease of nearly 11% in the number of HIV positive cases in 2004, compared to the previous year.
