Frank McBrearty Junior has declined to comment on a report that the State is seeking an out-of court settlement with him over false accusations brought against him by gardai in Donegal.
The Sunday Business Post says the State is seeking to head off a lawsuit by Mr McBrearty, who is a member of the family at the centre of the Morris Tribunal’s inquiries.
The lawsuit is due to begin later this month.
It follows the finding of the tribunal that Mr McBrearty was the victim of a miscarriage of justice.
