A Palestinian was killed by Israeli soldiers during an incursion into the northern West Bank town of Qabatiya.
The 23-year-old civilian was killed by soldiers who opened fire in an operation to arrest wanted militants from the radical Islamic Jihad faction.
Israeli military sources said a soldier was also shot and wounded in the clashes with Islamic Jihad gunmen.
The death raised to 4,763 the number of people killed since the September 2000 launch of the Palestinian uprising, including 3,701 Palestinians and 988 Israelis.
An informal truce has been in place between Palestinian militants and Israel since late January.
