Opposition criticism after Lebanese death

The opposition in Lebanon has called for the resignation of the country’s president, Emile Lahoude.

The opposition is blaming him and the Lebanese security forces for the killing of a prominent journalist with anti-Syrian views.

The opposition says Mr Lahoude should quit because he is, in effect, the head of the security and intelligence apparatus.

Yesterday, the journalist, Samir Kassir, was killed by a bomb outside his home in a Christian district in the east of the capital, Beirut.
