Vodafone Ireland is to create 100 new jobs by setting up a call centre for its international customers at its headquarters at Leopardstown in south Dublin.
The announcement was made as the company reported that its Irish customer base had grown by 88,000 to more than 1,950,000 in the year to the end of March.
The figures also show that Vodafone Ireland made an average of €608 from each Irish customer, up from €582 last year. This compares with €209 in the company's German business and £306 in the UK.
Meanwhile, the parent company reported underlying earnings of £13 billion, up 3% on the previous year and ahead of expectations.
There was good news for shareholders, with the company announcing that it was doubling its dividend to 4p per share.
