Talks at the Labour Relations Commission aimed at resolving the Gama dispute have been adjourned.

A formula aimed at achieving a return to work is to be put to the workers at 2.30pm tomorrow afternoon.

If the workers accept that formula, substantive talks on the issues of pay and overtime will get under way later this week.

However SIPTU National Industrial Secretary, Noel Dowling, said that he was not optimistic that the men would accept the proposals as their trust in the company has broken down.

The workers have been on strike for over six weeks in a dispute centring on pay and conditions as well as allegations of harassment and intimidation.

Arriving for the talks earlier, SIPTU branch secretary Eric Fleming said the workers were hoping to get answers for questions they put to management a month ago.

Mr Fleming denied claims by the company that the union's picket was unlawful.

He said the Turkish workers had been locked out last week and official pickets had been placed.

He denied company allegations that employees who had continued to work for Gama had been intimidated or refused access to Gama sites.

The management delegation did not comment as they arrived for the talks.

Earlier this month, around 250 workers on Gama construction sites in Dublin voted overwhelmingly to take official industrial action in support of Turkish workers who it is alleged were being underpaid.
