Blast reported in Basque region

A small bomb, believed to have been planted by the Basque separatist group, ETA, has exploded next to the home of a Basque businessman.

No one was injured and the man’s family was evacuated following the attack.

According to local radio reports, a second bomb was defused in a park, also in the town of Zarautz, near San Sebastian.

ETA has killed nearly 850 people since 1968 in demand for a separate Basque homeland in northern Spain and southwestern France.

The Spanish parliament voted earlier this month to endorse government peace talks with ETA if the outlawed group lays down its arms.
