Two PSNI officers have been injured during disturbances near the Ardoyne shops in north Belfast.
Police say they were called to the area after a crowd of around 100 people gathered in the area.
Bricks, bottles and other missiles were thrown and police in riot gear dispersed the crowd.
The area is now reported to be quiet but there is still a police presence.
The security gates at Lanark Way, another sectarian interface in west Belfast have also been shut.
A DUP representative in the area claimed the violence erupted after Celtic dramatically lost the Scottish Premier League title.
North Belfast Assembly member, Nelson McCausland, claimed a house in a Protestant area at Twadell Avenue was attacked, breaking a reinforced window.
He called for CCTV footage at the notorious flashpoint to be used to identify those responsible for the rioting and to ensure swift prosecutions.
Two held over Antrim bomb attack
Two men have been arrested in Northern Ireland by police investigating what they believe to have been a sectarian bomb attack on a house in Co Antrim.
A petrol bomb was thrown at the front of the house in Ahoghill shortly before 4am this morning.
A woman was inside at the time.
Elsewhere, 14 cars and a house were damaged by a gang of up to 40 youths who went on the rampage in Derry in the early hours of this morning.
The mob went on the rampage in Beechwood Avenue. During the disturbance the front door of a house was kicked in.
