The Tánaiste and Minister for Health has said she will introduce a system of regulation for alternative medicine therapists.
Mary Harney said she is awaiting a report from an expert group looking at this area, and when this is completed, legislation will be introduced.
The Tánaiste was responding to a question from independent TD, Dr Jerry Cowley, who said innocent people are dying because this sector is not regulated.
Dr Cowley said two people who died in Mayo, would be alive today if they had been treated with conventional medicine.
