Motor insurance - Survey reveals varying prices

A survey has found that motorists can save up to €1,700 by searching out the policies offered by different insurance companies.

The research was carried out by the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority.

Its Consumer Director, Mary O'Dea, has advised motorists that the cheapest policy is not always the best one because it may not include certain benefits such as cover for driving other cars.

The survey can be downloaded in pdf format from the IFSRA website.
