Sheep farmers are set to continue their round-the-clock protests at the country's six major lamb processing factories over the weekend and into next week.
The farmers have been demonstrating since Wednesday afternoon over a €20 cut in the price of lambs. They say these cuts are unnecessary and are destroying their livelihoods.
The protests are taking place in Athleague, Hacketstown, Camolin, Navan, Ballyhaunis and Kildare.
The IFA leader, John Dillon, said this revolt by sheep farmers demonstrates their determination to stop the factories from ruining their incomes.
He said the severe price reduction by the factories so early in the season has undermined prices both in France and the UK and has destroyed confidence in the market.
