The Indonesian Social Affairs Ministry was expected to determine today whether the adoption of the Indonesian-born Tristan Dowse by an Irish man and an Azerbaijani woman was legal.
The court hearing in Indonesia has been cancelled due to torrential rainfall.
The adoption was certified by the Irish Adoption Board and the boy became an Irish citizen and holds an Irish passport.
Three-year-old Tristan was later returned to the orphanage by his adoptive parents who claimed the adoption was not working out.
However, a legal battle erupted over the child's citizenship and the restrictions it placed on him for future adoption.
