Mother and daughters die in Wexford tragedy

The death of a mother and her two young girls in Wexford town earlier today has been described as a terrible tragedy.

Gardaí say there is nothing suspicious in the death of a 29-year-old woman and her two daughters aged three and four.

Their bodies were found in the river Slaney in an area known as Kaat's Strand by fishermen this morning at about 10.30am.

The mother was reported missing at around 2am after she took a taxi with her two children into town.

The bodies have been removed to Wexford Hospital where post mortems will be carried out tomorrow.
