The United Nations World Food Programme has said a severe funding shortfall has forced it to cut food rations in the western Sudanese region of Darfur, with effect from next month.
The agency said it had received less than half of the money it needed to feed around two million people affected by the conflict there.
Although the cutbacks will not affect malnourished children or nursing mothers, a spokesperson for the agency said he was concerned about the negative impact they will have on thousands of vulnerable people.
