The National Grid's new control centre was officially opened by the Minister for Communications, Marine & Natural Resources, Noel Dempsey today.

The centre, which is located in Fitzwilliam Street in Dublin, is designed to instantly match electricity production with customer demand.

The €11 million project is also intended to improve the security of the country’s electricity supply.
