Official results have confirmed that the party of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has won parliamentary elections in the country.

ZANU-PF has taken 51 parliamentary seats, giving the party a simple majority in the 150 seat parliament, where 30 additional members are Mugabe appointees.

The Zimbabwe elections have been criticised by human rights groups and the MDC as not being free and fair. The United States and the European Union have also expressed reservations.
