New figures show that Ireland enjoyed another strong year for economic growth last year in line with financial forecasts.

Figures from the Central Statistics Office show that Gross National Product expanded by 5.5% in 2004.

GNP measures the value of all goods and services produced in a nation's economy.

Unlike gross domestic product, it includes goods and services produced abroad by Irish companies.
